As a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, I aim to offer you a thoughtful and reliable space where you gradually feel able to share whatever may be on your mind, within the safety of the therapeutic relationship. Over time, words, images and memories will emerge, revealing themselves alongside the troubles and concerns you are seeking help with.
Listening together, we will both experience and explore the deeper thoughts and feelings you carry about yourself and the world — those that may be causing you repeated difficulties in your relationships, career, and creative life.
Although these feelings may initially be hard to put into words, and at times may feel frightening or painful, through our work together you will gain more clarity about their origins, and an understanding about how and why these feelings connect with your life in the present.
As you develop a deeper capacity to face yourself, you will come to find a greater sense of inner space, strength, and an emotional understanding, enabling you to face your difficulties anew in a more meaningful and satisfying way, with your ideals and values more close at hand for you to draw upon in everyday life.
In time-limited work, our focus will be on understanding and resolving a specific difficulty you are currently facing. In longer-term work, where we may meet several times a week, there is an opportunity for a more profound recovery and reconnection with your true self and its potentials.

I am an approved provider with several insurance companies both in the UK and internationally, including AXA UK & Global, Vitality Health, Allianz, and Aetna.
Low fee Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
3 times weekly
I hold two spaces open for those who wish to embark upon three times weekly psychoanalytic psychotherapy, but would be unable to afford my usual fee.
For these spaces I offer a negotiable fee, taking into account your circumstances, reviewed yearly.
I offer you my encouragement to reach out should you feel drawn to this form of intensive treatment - that is a sign in itself that I may be of some help to you.

Counsellors, Psychotherapists, and Psychoanalysts will all be interested in the story behind what you are seeking help for, rather than giving you a diagnosis, prescription, or lifestyle advice.
Counsellors will typically be experienced in short term, goal-orientated work, working within a time-limited frame, reflecting the focus of their training. Some counsellors may choose to go on to a further training in psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, or an evidence based brief therapy, in order to deepen their scope of practice.
Psychotherapists have a substantial course of training and personal therapy, as well as rigorous supervision requirements during and after their training. They usually offer longer term therapy, often meeting more than once weekly, and will have some experience working in psychiatric settings; working in a multi-disciplinary team, and with people with more severe and enduring mental health difficulties.
Psychoanalysts are trained for intensive work, 4 or 5 times a week, often on the couch, which can last for many years. They are also often involved in consultation, supervision, teaching, as well as offering intensive treatment in psychiatric and forensic settings.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is not for everyone, and there are many different approaches which all have their place.
For those who are really suffering, for those who have tried other methods without success, and for those who are working or wish to work therapeutically with others - these would all be good reasons embark on psychoanalytic treatment.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy can be helpful for a wide variety of concerns, from depression and anxiety, to more complex and long standing mental health difficulties.
Aimed at deep understanding and lasting change, psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a treatment which is typically offered over several months and years, rather than weeks. Like learning a language, craft or musical instrument, your journey in psychotherapy, while at times challenging, may nevertheless become a very satisfying and creative process as we think and feel deeply together about your hopes and fears in life.
For those, who for various reasons, may choose a shorter term treatment, embarking on once weekly or time-limited therapy can also be a very significant step, providing relief and highlighting a path forward when the time feels right.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis are at the root of the wide variety of therapeutic methods on offer today, and they remain one of the most effective treatments available.
Their core methods in fact are similar to the oldest expressions of psychological healing and insight, found in the arts and world’s contemplative traditions: that through setting time aside for sustained and careful listening, contact can be made with deeper layers of the self, accompanied by someone in whom you have some faith may be of help.
Over time, your capacity to remain connected and responsive to your deepest values, ideals and dreams, will extend more and more into your daily life, beyond our work together. Your work, relationships, and creative life will all benefit.

Yes. One of the aims of this kind of therapy is to restore power and give voice and definition to parts of the self which are marginalised.
This allows for a new relationship with the external realities of abuse, oppression, discrimination and injustice: more able to acknowledge both the blessings and cruelties of fate, you will find yourself with more inner space and freedom to take command of your own destiny.

There are many different routes to training in the UK. Whichever route you decide to take, commitment to your own personal therapy will benefit you and those you will work with, and offer a reliable foundation for an enjoyable and sustainable practice.
I offer consultation and twice or three times weekly psychotherapy to those considering, or currently training in: Counselling (e.g. a BACP/CPCAB training), Psychology, UKCP Psychotherapy trainings, as well as to GP and Psychiatry trainees. As a UKCP accredited Psychotherapist, I follow the ethical regulations and standards set out by them, as well from my member college, the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis (CPJA).
I hold and process any data you provide me in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR guidelines. There may be rare cases where in order to safeguard you or others, I may have to disclose limited information, for example to your GP or Psychiatrist.
Your interests and the confidentiality of our work will always remain my priority in these cases, and I would always inform and attempt to discuss this with you beforehand.

Following my undergraduate studies, I completed my initial clinical training in mental health nursing and psychodynamic counselling, and then a further three years of post-graduate training and clinical work to qualify as a UKCP registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist.
Alongside my training, I have been fortunate to work clinically for over a decade with adults, children and young people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds, and most recently with people in many different countries around the world.
